Billing and VAT questions
Do prices include VAT?
No. Prices exclude VAT at 15%. Once Sendbaze is VAT-registered, invoices show VAT as a separate line and include your VAT number if you add it in Billing.
What counts as one SMS?
One credit equals one segment. A GSM-7 message up to 160 characters is one segment; longer messages are split at 153 characters per segment. Emoji or non-Latin characters switch the message to UCS-2, where a segment is 70 characters. The API returns the segment count before you are billed.
What happens when I use up my allowance?
Email sends stop with a clear plan_allowance_exceeded error until your billing period resets or you upgrade, so a runaway loop can never surprise you with a bill. SMS keeps going on any prepaid credits you hold. Metered overage at the rates below arrives with card billing; you will be able to opt in per organisation.
Do SMS packs expire?
No. Pack credits are used after your monthly allowance and roll over month to month. Refunds follow the Terms of Service.
Is there a pay-as-you-go option?
Yes. Prepaid credits at R0.03 per email and R0.32 per SMS segment, no subscription, never expire. Ask support to switch an organisation to pay as you go.
How do I pay?
Card or bank transfer through Paystack, billed monthly in rand. Enterprise customers can pay annually by invoice.
Why does SMS need card verification on the free plan?
OTP-pumping fraud targets free SMS credits. A quick R10 card check, refunded immediately, stops that without slowing down real developers.
